'Barolos' in Winton. Less than 15 minutes away this 'small town' Italian is actually one of the most popular Italian restaurants around and my personal favourite. The staff are lots of fun, the food is good and being newly renovated it's very stylish and has a fantastic atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic night out or a louder affair with a group!
'Captains Club Hotel and Spa' in Christchurch is a little bit of luxury just down the road. It's right next to the River which is lovely for a riverside lunch on a sunny day and in the evenings it's fancy enough for you to get fully dressed up for a long dinner with piano music, lobster and cocktails! (Ask for a Beverley Hills Iced Tea... if you're not driving!)
